OCTOBER 2011
Be Inspired to Join the Fight Against Breast Cancer
Hear Our Stories
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Tel-Tron is committed to doing our part in the ongoing fight against this deadly disease. This year, we decided to raise awareness by highlighting the Tel-Tron employees who have been affected by breast cancer, in hopes of inspiring others to take action. These are our stories.
1
Meg Dawson - (wife of Tel-Tron CEO Brian Dawson) Meg lost her mother to breast cancer when she was in her early teens. Since then, Meg has become a strong advocate for Breast cancer awareness, devoting her time as an active member in many breast cancer fundraising events.
2
Ashley Chinn (Key Account Support) Both Ashley’s Great Grandmother Jaclyne Brannon and her Great Aunt Tiny Ross were victims of breast cancer.
3
Sheena Gomes (Production) Sheena’s niece, Jennifer Goncalves, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in January of 2008 and after 14 months of battling the disease, passed away in March 2009, two weeks before her wedding. An article telling her story was featured in a 2009 issue of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Newsletter.
4
Cheyenne Gillingham (Technical Support Manager) Chey’s Mother-in-Law, Helen Smith, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Chey recalls, "I was in the room as she, surrounded by her six children and husband, took her last breath. This is why I press pink."
5
Leticia Betancourt (Production) Leticia’s brother’s girlfriend Maria Sostre is a breast cancer survivor. Fortunately, her cancer was detected early and after radiation therapy, she is now cancer-free!
6
David Slick (Sales Manager, Not Pictured) David’s close friend, Paula Hammer, is a breast cancer survivor.
Meanwhile, we continue our year-round fight against breast cancer, by offering “PressPink” wireless pendants. We’re proud to donate $10.00 from each pink pendant sold to breast cancer charities that provide important life-saving treatment and research. See below for more details.
Make a Statement
By purchasing these special wireless pendants for your staff and residents, not only are you contributing to the fight against breast cancer, but since the pendants are wearable, you are making a statement and helping to spread the word about this terrible—and too often deadly—disease.
Make a Difference
Tel-Tron is donating $10.00 from each Resident and Staff Reset wireless “Press Pink” pendant sold, to breast cancer charities, such as Susan G. Komen For The Cure and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Charities such as these provide resources for education and awareness, quality of life and treatment, and important life-saving research.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
How much do the “Press Pink” pendants cost?
A.
There is no price difference for “Press Pink” pendants. Whatever you currently pay for replacement pendants, is what you’ll pay for “Press Pink” pendants.
Q.
Will my “Press Pink” pendant work with my existing Tel-Tron system?
A.
Yes. “Press Pink” pendants operate the same exact way as your existing pendants.
Q.
What is the difference between a Resident Wireless Pendant and a Staff Reset Wireless Pendant?
A.
Both styles of wireless pendant work with the Tel-Tron system, but the Staff Reset pendant is specially marked as “Staff Reset” so that staff can more easily distinguish their pendants from residents’ pendants.
Q.
Can residents buy their own “Press Pink” pendants from Tel-Tron directly?
A.
No. Pendants must be purchased from Tel-Tron by the community. Some communities purchase Tel-Tron products and then pass on the cost of these types of resident-consumable devices to the resident as part of their monthly billing.
Q.
I have a hardwired system, can I use “Press Pink” pendants?
A.
Yes, if you also have apartment WARB receivers or building-wide/campus-wide wireless coverage in addition to your hardwired system. If you don’t have either of those, you can add a receiver in an individual apartment by ordering a WARB wireless receiver for hardwired systems, or add building-wide/campus-wide wireless receivers by contacting Sales for a wireless coverage assessment.
